Course 2 of 4 · Driver track
Your vehicle & documents.
The license, the insurance, and the vehicle standard — what's needed today and what's honestly still being finalized.
What you and your car need to qualify — and an honest note on what's still being finalized.
Your documents
The three documents
- Valid driver's license. Current, not expired, not suspended. The name must match your waitlist entry.
- Proof of insurance covering the vehicle you'll drive. Personal auto insurance details are confirmed at launch — commercial or rideshare-specific requirements, where they apply, will be stated plainly before anyone's first trip. Coming at launch
- A clear photo of yourself for your driver profile — riders see who's coming to pick them up.
Your vehicle
The standard
- Safe and roadworthy: working seatbelts for every passenger seat, working lights, brakes, and tires with legal tread.
- Clean — inside and out. Riders judge the whole platform by your back seat.
- Air conditioning that works. Riders notice, and they rate on it.
- No warning lights that matter ignored, no cracked windshield in the driver's view.
Still being finalized Coming at launch
- Vehicle age and mileage limits — not set yet. We will publish the exact cutoff before launch.
- Approved makes, models, and body types per market.
- The inspection checklist and how inspections happen in your area.
Don't buy or rent a car for Ryde yet. The requirements aren't final, and buying early could leave you with the wrong car. Wait for the confirmed checklist at launch — it will be published before the first trip, not after.
The rule of thumb
If you wouldn't put your own family in it, it's not ready for a paying rider. Hold your vehicle to that standard and the checklist will take care of itself.
